Labor Day

With Labor Day upon us, this weekend is sure to be jam-packed with all the activities and events going on in Atlanta.  What should you do? We’ve rounded up a list of what we’re planning on attending and we think you should join us!

Cypress Street will host its annual end of the summer pig roast on Saturday August 31st from 11am to 4pm.

Now in its sixth year, join the Cypress team on the patio for a day filled with fantastic fare, ice-cold SweetWater brews and live music. Of course, a pig roast is nothing without its star attraction – the 100lb. succulent, whole hog that Cypress will once again smoke overnight for everyone’s feasting pleasure.

This year the pig roast is a FREE event to attend – you will be able to purchase individual plates of pork and the fixings or anything off of the regular Cypress menu.

$35 VIP Pre-sale tickets will be sold July 22 through August 23 only and includes: a limited edition Pig Roast T-shirt by Esperanza, unlimited pig roast food, and unlimited SweetWater Beer from 11 to 4 p.m. VIP tickets will not be sold at the door.

Saturday is filled with lots of activities (see full list on their website). Cap off the weekend with a final balloon glow Sunday night on Robin Lake Beach. With this exciting line-up of events, surrounded by the natural beauty of Callaway Gardens, there’s no better way to say “farewell” to Summer 2013.

A wonderful opportunity to really immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Atlanta BeltLine is through the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum Walking Tour, led by expert docents from Trees Atlanta. With a focus on the horticultural collections, these guided tours along the East Side Trail are filled with great details about native trees, special features, and historical information about the Atlanta BeltLine and its one-of-a-kind Arboretum.

The walking tour takes approximately 1.5 hours and begins from an easily accessible trailhead in the Inman Park neighborhood at 9:00 A.M. on Fridays and Saturdays. Each docent prepares their own uREnique talking points to spotlight the native trees, architectural interests, key historical stories, and much more. Be sure to take advantage of this free walking tour, which is offered all year so you can experience every season of the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum with an expert docent.
